Week 10 EOC: How confident am I

Here at the Art Institute of Las Vegas I have learned a great amount of programs, on my own and in classes. In college I have gained competences of game design, animating, proper 3D model building for assets, characters, communication, how to present myself in person and on paper.

I have built multiple game assets and characters. Three years of working with design, 3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop, has taken my art to a whole new level. Modeling and Texturing is one of my greatest passions. Traditional art will always be a great passion. Through this college I have taken my drawing skills sky-high with learning anatomy, color theory and sculpting.

When I started learning how to code, I had no idea how much fun it would be. Nothing gives you a greater sense of accomplishment then seeing something work after butting so much research and time into it. This is coding. I do know a great deal about coding with C# and JavaScript through the Unity3D game engine, yet, I want to take this much further. It has made me want to get my next degree in computer science with a focus on coding.

I feel that I will get a job I have long waited for with my knowledge of skills that I have obtained. I can create art that some will never know how to do, let along how much time and effort goes into it. There are many others out there that can use the same programs and create similar artwork. Of course there are those that are better then I, but I will not give up till I am the best 3D artist, then I will move forward to the next position and become the best in that field.

I will succeed in my career. There is no doubt in my mind. I will become someone that others will look up to. I will inspire those who I come across, create what others can not, and accomplish goals that I have set for my self.

EOC Week 7: “tell me about your career goals”

Since high school, I’ve always had goals of becoming an established artist. I would go to the army and gather as much knowledge about deployments, weaponry and use it to my advantage when I went to college to learn how to create video games, and that’s exactly where I am at now.  I’ve done my time, and now getting ready to graduate from the Art Institute of Las Vegas with a Bachelors of Science in Game Art and Design.  Now I have an internship and a 3D Artist at Neon Ave Studios, working on characters and assets for a children show.

Going forward I am going to graduate with honors and continue improving my skills as a Technical artist, and get into the game industry as a 3D Artist doing assets for video games. For me to accomplish this, I will continue to improve my portfolio with new characters, textures, and assets to show off my skills as a 3D Artist. I will also learn new programs so I have more tools under my belt for those companies that use them. Learning new programs, perfecting my current skills is good, but to gain a career as a technical Artist, I will need to update my current skills with a wider range of skills to be as efficient as possible. Not only will all of this help me to gain my goal but provide my company with a strong asset to use.

All of these skills that I will possess, will make me a great asset for the company that I will have a career with.  With that career I will gain even more competencies as a Technical Artist and knowledge of the insides of the Industry to be the most effective asset.

EOC Week 6: Seduction of the Online Web Surfer

I would really like to try and figure out how to make a water droplet drop onto the webpage when you open the home web page. As the droplet hits the middle of the screen it would cause a ripple effect throughout the screen, and dissipate just as water should when it is hit by something, such as a droplet.

The seconded would have to be a moving background for each of the web pages. The background would be a 3D environment following the themes of the page. For the first web page I would like it to be scenery of forest at the top with a lake or waterfall as the page. The other pages would fallow this theme and be different parts of the river.

Creating the header of the web page to be a GIF with my logo. My logo is still being worked on, but I want it to be water themed, with the water flowing in a cycle of nonstop liquid. As if my logo was a waterfall.

The mouse curser while it moves across the page as if you’re dragging your finger along water. I will have to look up how to accomplish this. The must be a HTML script that I can write or use.

Along with the dragging of the mouse, when the viewer clicks the page or an item on the screen it would make a splash animation and sound. Of course keeping with the water and forest theme of the website.

Also, I would like to have my slide shows look like water as they change from picture to picture. As if they were being pushed by the waterfall in the background to move from each image.

Week 5 EOC: Whatever Works

When you are not happy you completely lose who you are as a person. Finding what you enjoy will change you into the person who you are meant to be. She found her joy it taking photos and expressing herself through her art. She kept her photo album with her. She did not realize this at the time but that was basically her portfolio. We all need to have access to our portfolios at all time, not necessarily keep a physical portfolio with us at all times, but most of us in my field usually have a sketch pad or a website to go to. You can show some your work just by talking about what you do. You find joy in your work so you like to talk about it. You never know when someone will know another that can get you a job doing what you love. Always keep your eyes open and ready for an opportunity. My focus when reading about the industry is to know what is going on with it. I need to keep my portfolio updated so I can continually have new work displayed in it and be able to show it off when ever I can. She changed the way she dressed and acted to fit into her art group and look like she belonged, but not only to just have anyone else acknowledge her, you have to feel like you are supposed to be there. When in a situation where you do feel uncomfortable, you just need to remember that everyone around you has just about the same goals you do or once did. So feel comfortable. I would go this far to get my dream job. I would not change who I am but let them know that I am the person they need for the job.

Week 4 EOC: Devil Wears Prada - Deeper meaning

Watching this film really made me want to watch it fully. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to do so just yet. The deeper meaning of this film is really to appreciate your job you have and try to look the part. In other words be professional. The woman that went in for an interview was completely wrong. Yes she had got the job but it was not because she was prepared for it. When going to an interview you should at least know the head person you would be working for. Looking up information about the company will only help you obtain the job easier. When you go in for the interview you need to look the part and at the very least meet the dress code of the office or company that you are interview for. Also watch what you eat before you go in for the interview. In the film she ate an onion bagel, not a pleasant smell to have on your breath when talking to someone about a job that you want to get. As I said before be a professional in the work setting. Make an effort to know the company you want to work for or are working for.

Week3: Swingers Deeper meaning

Swingers is a fun movie. It has characters that are all very interesting and have their own unique personalities. In this movie, Mike has a hard time getting over a relationship and everyone is trying to help him through it. Trent shows him how to communicate with others again. The deeper meaning comes from here, you have to be confident while talking to someone or they will not get the sense that you know what your doing, although you want to be confident but you do not want to come off lying about everything you do not have. In the movie, they put all these skills towards picking up a girl, but all these skills are for networking and just talking to someone in general.

Week 2 EOC: Profile Statements

Educated 3D Artist with three years experience using Autodesk, Adobe, and other 3D and texturing programs along side Unity3D and Unreal Engine 4. Knowledgeable with proper character design, and game design including mechanics. Five years experience with leading teams to meet objectives and dead lines effectively in an orderly and timely fashion.

Week 1 EOC - Objective

I am a 3D Artist and would like to utilize my skills with 3DS Max in modeling, Photoshop for textures along with Substance or 3D Coat if possible. I would enjoy being able to use Unity3D, Unreal Engine 4, or any other Game engine I can learn to set up assets for games.

Week 1 EOC: Elevator Introduction

I am a 3D artist; I enjoy modeling and texturing anything that is for a 3D world whether it is for a game or animation of any sort. Game Design and everything that goes into creating a game is a strong passion of mine.

Week 1 EOC - My Voice

I am a 3D artist, modeling characters, environments, weapons, building structures; just about anything you want into the 3D world, I can put it there. Along with the texturing, the research that that needs to happen to make an item, a creature, or an individual look the way they do. That is what I enjoy most about this career. Putting a story behind every detail to make the world more interesting and be able to tell the story without the words. Creating the pieces will not go too far without a rig to animate with or the code to make it all happen. Yet before even this takes place, you have to have a good strong idea to work off. Game design is my passion, anyone can create something, but not everyone can create something fun. You have to know how to look at the part of a game and what it takes to make it fun. Game involvement is a great part of my life. It has to be, it is part of the game industry. You have to know the new games and programs that are hitting the shelves, with the type of content it will have and what is available to you to use. Games are a part of my life, and I want to create games that can be a part of anyone’s life.
